Holiday tips are a nice way to say “thank you” to those who help us out during the year.  Many have questions about whom to tip during the holidays and how much to give.  Here are a few thoughts: For those who help you out regularly – dog walker, trainer, hair stylist, babysitter, piano teacher – tip the equivalent of one service or session. The Drop Off

This is the time of year when many parents are faced with the dreaded “College Drop Off.” Social media is flooded with pictures of decked-out dorm rooms and beaming freshman eager to begin the next chapter of their lives. Often the comments associated with these happy images offer condolences to parents, asking “How are you doing?” and “Are you holding up okay?”, not to mention the number of sad emojis to mark this emotional rite of passage. I must admit that my first drop off ended with tears. They were primarily tears of joy, however, and not tears of sadness. Read the Wall Street Journal

A woman in my community received an MBA from the same school that I attended. She graduated with distinction thirty years before me, one of only six women in her class. (My business school class was 25% women.) She has had a successful career and has made a point of advising younger women to read the front page of the Wall Street Journal every day. It is important to keep up with national and world events, but also to be informed about the most important business and financial news of the day.
